Hello from Birmingham! Daniel and I arrived with the Sooners this afternoon around 4:00 local time. Half of the people at our station think we are in the eastern time zone. We are not. True story. Looks like it will be impossible to find trouble in Birmingham. The guy that drove our shuttle from the team hotel to the media hotel said we should go to UAB for a little nightlife. From a distance, the UAB nightlife looks about as promising as their football season did last year. (Check the record).
Joe Castiglione is not only one of the best athletic directors in the country, he knows where to eat. For a skinny guy, Joe has an amazing sense of great food. His recommendation is Dreamland BBQ downtown. He even predicted that I would purchase sauce from there to take home. Maybe he can see the future. . .
My bracket is up. Laugh now and probably laugh louder later. I did read the entire Blue Ribbon post-season guide and am full of basketball information. Many of you may think I’m full of something else after the games are played. I don’t see many upsets this year. I did find out that North Carolina has won 22 of 23 NCAA tournament games played in North Carolina. . . . Bet most of those teams played better defense. . . .
Bracket remorse: Like Tennessee more now that I penciled them out against Louisville. Better defensive statistics than I would have ever thought.
Maybe I should have taken Drake over UConn. The Bulldogs are very solid in all aspects of the game and are much better than the name Drake implies.
Here’s the tip of the tournament. Simple Math. Combine where the team ranks among other tournament teams from 1-64 in FG% and FG% defense. Add the numbers together and the lowest number figures to be a well-rounded team. Here’s the result
Kansas = 5
Georgetown = 6
Michigan State = 26
Point is Kansas = good. Why is Michigan State not good?
