The Big Apple

Arrived at our hotel Thursday here in New York City to find an apple on my pillow. Guess that’s the Big Apple I should take a bite out of?

I’ll work on that …

David Stern is expected to make an appearance in the next hour to announce the NBA’s board of governors’ decision on the Sonics’ relocation request. Don’t sweat it OKC. This vote will be approved and should be close to unanimous.

As far as the NBA thinks, Oklahoma will be home to an NBA franchise. The battle now begins in the court. Lawsuits have flown faster than taxi cabs here in Manhattan this week. The best case for Oklahoma City is to hope business sense overtakes animosity and hostility in Seattle.

Here’s hoping a federal judge can see that to force a lame-duck franchise to play two years in a city that loathes its owner isn’t in anyone’s best interest.

My first trip to Yankee Stadium last night was very cool. Packed house. Fisticuffs in the stands. There was a little bit of everything.

To keep TV and brand synergy here are 5 statements:
Jason Giambi - I think your career is over.
Mike Mussina - I think your career is over. (unless pitching against lower division opponents)
David Ortiz - What’s wrong? Giambi’s average is higher than yours.
A-Rod vs. Jeter - One could be the greatest hitter of all time. But I’d rather have the other guy at the plate with two on and two out.
Jacoby Elsberry - The next big thing in Boston.
